Might buy this - little help
LS block
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW What should I do with it until I can get a head...and tranny....and all that other fun stuff? How can I clean it up easily? (dont say hot tank) Those tops look pretty damn dirty... Ive always wondered if engines can just sit there like that, and for how long. |

The top of the pistons can really get that dirty... that's normal believe it or not. Use a few cans of brake cleaner and greenie-weenie (green pads). Lots of time will require for that thing to become emaculate. The block (outside) just needs to ge soaked with simple green then wash it off with hot water. If you have a steam cleaner, that will work better.
It just really depends on what the owner did while it was sittin like that. If he kept it lubricated and turn the crank at least once every week, then it should be fine. I sold a 96 d-series that sat untouched for 6 months. Now the person who bought it did a compression test and still pulled 140-160 across. |

I dont really care about the outside...it'll get dirty anyway and I tend not to care.
Im waiting to hear back from the seller to see if he's rotated it at all. It being a 94 I am mildly concerned about siezed parts |

Yay good news
He says that he rotates it weekly and oils the cylinders. I hope to be making the drive to get it first week of may. Ive decided that worst case senario I have to replace the rings, but that could be fun |

Actually the worst case scenario is that he's lying through his teeth...but it doesn't seem like that's something you'd lie about (seeing as how it'd be immediately obvious if he was). Hell...for $100 the block itself (without reciprocating assembly) wouldn't be a bad deal. Then again...like I know what bare Honda blocks sell for.

Right, I figured Id rotate it all when I showed up to pick it up, inspect it all, make sure its kosher.
Things can be had cheaper, I know that, but Im tired of trying to find them. This is within driving distance for me too. |

don't place a bid until the last minute.
and PAT, I could've sworn you told me you wanted gsr-t, so just to show you how awesome and correct I am, I found and fowarded you the PM. On a side note, I was tempted to start the write up but never knew where to start as I had already post a few here and there. I just figred I'll make one thread when it's all said and done.

LYNA your inbox is full. LS is fine. Its cheap, its low compression, its longer stroke, its cheap. The auction ends on monday night, so I do plan on waiting until then to bid on it. |

PAT, it's now deleted. I get a lot of complaints about my box. To make the rest of you happier (you know who you are), I deleted like 15.
I just realized that I typed "gsr-vtec" instead of "gsr-turbo." How gay that is.

No kidding...I was only going to bid 130 and when I saw that I still wasnt winning I gave up. 5minutes before auction end the current winner changes to me and drops to original price!
I'll be taking the 322 mile road trip the first week of may (hopefully) |

The TQ converter is attached the same way as a FW on a 5 speed.... unless I'm thinking something else.
Good job mang. If you need stock LS parts LMK. It is a good idea to at least replace the rings. Not hard at all. |

The hell is a flex plate? Is it the same as a drive plate?
Ive been looking at ring replacement diagrams already today Even if I am going to be piecing this together slowly Im excited. Arnel, how much do obd2 ls heads go in your area? I saw that sohfast has a complete 97 for $250 I'll probably buy that in june. |

I would, but its further south than I'll be going - Im only skimming the corner of Indy, along the shoreline...plus my mom will be going, since she's got the wheels for pickup. (I dont think she'd like me ditching her for women...even though that'd be awesome)

That price is not bad for an OBD2 LS head. I know that I can find it cheaper. I'll let you know man. Depending on the status of my Teg, I might get rid of my B20 head and go B20VTEC this winter. If I do, I'll hook you up with my current B20 head..... I just dont know what to do yet. |

Do b20vtec and be my buddy, Arnel.
I have a obd1 head if anything ever fails for ya and I'm your last resort.
