If your state has emissions testing, all of your air flow mods must have CARB numbers on them. Lights, etc. must be DOT approved. You cannot tamper with your car, exhaust has to be under xx decibels (96 in California), etc. There is a certain height above the ground your headlights must be (22 inches?).... totally blue or red lights are illegal. Must have amber or red signals.
Lots and lots of laws, but many people ignore most of them.

laws vary from state to state so it's kind of hard to tell what's legal in texas

Not true. In most states you can have it, but you have to have the bottle either removed from the car, or you can have the bottle if its turned off.

here in the bay area (calif), it depends on how bitchy the cop that pulls you over can get. technically, if it "looks" legal enough, it's legal! haha (seriously). if your gonna change any lights, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL YOUR SIDE AND REAR REFFLECTORS~~!!! it's the most obvious thing to cops! for engine stuff, just hope the cop doesn't ask you to pop the hood....well in california that is!

i asked one of the cops at work last night and he told me the bumper has to be 18" from the ground for the car to be street legal and in case they pull you over the punishment depends on "how good the wife treated them that morning" as for the lights in OH they can be any color (neons, leds, foglights) as long they are not flashing.

well..so i can clear out my headlights and that not be a prob? it shouldnt be since i see so many ppl with their lights cleared. so no flashing lights? thats too bad, i need to throw out my strobe light. i wonder if its ok to change the windshield sprayer things(whatever theyre called) to a diff color, like neon. i dunno, cuz i see ppl with em but i dunno if theyre legal! I think im gonna have to do some MAJOR research..ahhh |

see in california there are more street racers in cali then tx, so they would carry a tape measurer. in tx it aint that big of a deal cuz its really not that bad.

Racing is a HUGE deal in texas...but they usually don't care too much if you mod your car...just DON'T and i'm serious!DON'T get caught racing...EVER!
it's like over 100 bucks for each MPH you are over the speed limit plus the 300 dollar fine for racing. They will seriously **** you up
