USDM To JDM Swap

Hey guy's/girl's,

New to the forum and I like this forum. I have a USDM 5spd Honda Prelude 98 and I'm going to do a swap with a JDM engine. I'm going all JDM, I already have painted the car JDM Hyper White, and i/h/e, cams all JDM. I was just wondering if I would run into any problems while swapping out the old USDM engine and adding in the JDM engine. Help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Allan

well.. the jdm engine harnesses are obd1 and your car is odb2 (On Board Diognostics) your going to have to swap the main harness, but the motor will bolt up.

and i think its worth it. its a minor gain on paper... but its a stronger engine.

Ya that's kinda of why i was going for it, not too much of gains in hp (5) but it's also stronger. Anyways the USDM is about to reach to where i was going for a new engine.

If you get an OBD1 engine and want to use your OBD2 ECU, you have to rewire the harness from withing the engine compartment to run the Engine. It is that simple.

If you want to use an OBD1 ECU, make sure you get an OBD1 harness with your engine. Then you have to interface (rewire) the OBD1 harness to the car's harness.

Once you have changed the ECU, it won't have the security that your Lude has. Meaning the starter disable feature of your key would not work anymore.
