"The b18b's power drops off at 6800"
Mine wont...
The beginnings of 8000rpm LS head I paid $310 shipped for the set. I could only get them at this price by showing the dealer GE's cost of $315 shipped...He wouldnt do 300 :o And here's where theyre going Cams will be Crowers 403 N/A cams. Ive seen dyno plots of people using the 404 strip cams, but I dont want a lumpy idle. The 403 cams will have a bit of lope to them, but I'll just turn the idle screw open so it sits around 1000. She will then spin happily to 8000 I could take it further, if the rods werent rated for only 8500... Before they go in, Im taking the head to a local shop and having a mild port/polish done just to smooth it out and take advantage of the valvetrain. The block is in the shop right now, getting the cylinders honed and bored, .003, for the wiseco flat tops, helicoil'd for 2 damn stripped mount holes, and the blockguard installed (yes, pressed and welded in 1/4" down). Specs on the cams are
"Advertised Duration": 264/264 Duration @ .050": 221/220 Gross lift @ .075": 422/411 Stock is (234/236) (194/196) (395/380), respectively. Seems like a lot for turbo, but Ive seen this is the way to go Quote:

Well, Im only hoping for around 140whp before turbo.
I really doubt I'll dyno it before I tune for boost...just seems like a waste of time and money to me. I dont know though...we'll see. Maybe some special dyno day will happen and I can get a deal |

Im really happy that this project is moving along at a steady pace...not exactly speedy, but steady
I wont be using SS valves, because I dont want to change out the guides for bronze. Plus, the head only had around 60k miles on it and theyre in good shape. Down the road I might, but I dont think anytime soon. As soon as I shell out the fat wad for the gsr tranny, it will be ready to go in. I might just wait until next spring to do that - Im not swapping over the winter |

see i would think it would be the other way around becuause usually they put taller ratios in to compensate for that. So if the Si trans turns about 4k @80, i'm assuming it does the same on a stock Si? Shit is short. thought mine was bad

you can use this to find out exactly what RPM's you'll be at:
http://nonsense.netfirms.com/speed.html the prelude is at just under 4k rpms @ 80mph, i need a Prelude S 5th gear so I can cruise at around 3350rpms. |

what i'd really like is an AccordR 1-4th and a prelude S 5th, that with a quaife would be sick.

THat's gonna be a bad ass set-up man. I'm glad to see you are doing it right the first time Pat. Cam profile has always been a mystery to me cuz I see so many people making more power on N/A cams applied on turbo set-up. I'm using JDM ITR cams for mine. I've seen people make more power on CTR cams that actual aftermarket turbo cams.....
