Thoughts on amp brands
Hey,
i just bought a zero watt head unit kenwood excelon x915 i allready have a mono amp for my sub now i need to pick up a nice 4 channel amp for my speakers i want to go with at least 50wX4 but i don't want to blow alot of cash i've been scoping amps on ebay looking for a good deal i could kick myself because i missed the closing of an auction for a kenwood 848 that went for $80 here are the amps i've been mainly looking at kenwood pioneer alpine profile (california) rockford fosgate just wondering if anyone has opinions about what companies make good amps and which ones to stay away from if there is an amp i left out tell me why you like it also keep in mind that i intend on spending around 100 on this amp and that i have no real problem buying a used one thanks guys Sean |

i have been looking at pioneers on ebay, and i think i can find a pioneer premier amp for under $100
the ones that you sugested are are not 75 and 90 watts per channel the RMS rating is what i'm interested in and those had an RMS rating of around 30watts per channel which is barely more than a nice deck puts out thanks for taking the time to make a suggestion though Sean |

barely? about 15 more than most decks.
how much money are you looking to spend? i was trying to not blow you out of the water. heres what you want... kicker 100x4 rms. hope your speakers can handle it. http://caraudiozone.woofersetc.com/s...f?item_ID=2432 or 75x4 http://caraudiozone.woofersetc.com/s...f?item_ID=2431 if you are a glutton for punishment... PPI is what you need http://caraudiozone.woofersetc.com/s...f?item_ID=1874 or... if you have unlimited cash... Zapco here we come. http://caraudiozone.woofersetc.com/s...f?item_ID=1954 so.. yeah take your pick |

so far i have had very good luck buying amps on ebay
(knock on wood) i always e-mail the owner a few times and ask a string of very specific questions i have a kenwood mono amp that i bought 8 months ago which has been working perfectly running a 10" sub the speakers i am getting are rated at 150watts RMS this is one of the reasons that i want to run them off of an amp and not my deck, my old speakers were rated at 80watts and i powered them off of my kenwood deck that gave them 22watts RMS and they sounded great so i am looking for an amp that puts out in the range of 50 to 75 watts continuous as i feel that will give me enough power to make the speakers sound good i'm looking to spend around 150 tops ideally i would like to spend less than 100 but that is tough given what i want thanks for the suggestions Sean |

what speakers are these?
thats pretty high power for RMS for little speakers. some subs don't handle much more than that. |

Boss audio
this years speakers the rears are 6.5in Rips with suspended tweats and the fronts are 5.25 in Riot compontents the rears are rated at 350 max, 150 continuous the fronts are 300 max, 150 continuous don't knock boss till you hear them alot of doubters have changed their minds after sitting in my car and right now i have some boss speakers that retail for about $16 dollars a pair that are running off my deck these are 150 watts max anyway, i don't think it is strange for a speaker to have that high of a power rating... decent subs are usually 200 or higher for RMS later Sean |

MAX!!!! what have i been saying about the PCX line of PPI? AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!! in case you didn't catch that earlier. too expencive for the quality. PPI PC is a different story though. i would tend to avoid new Zapco stuff too. i know what the guy that sold you those boss speakers told you, but, yes, he is still a salesman. i've worked with guys that would compare Planet Audio 6.5 components to MB Quart Q's. they are salesmen. thats their job. to sell you what they have. most of the time they know what they are going to sell you before you even walk in the store.

If you got the cash, get a JL or Kicker amp. You can't go wrong with their products. I wouldn't buy a Fosgate amp because of my past experience with em. Good luck.

you can go wrong with both Kicker and JL amps. you should not buy stuff just because of the brand name.
