Me and a freind are trying to find out if it is PA state legal to have a valve activated exaust bipass. we want to put a y pipe on the end of the down pipe and send one end through the normal catalitic and muffeler and the other straight out the side of the car bypassing all of the "street legal" nessesary parts the valve would be switch activated so that you could turn it on and off but we have yet to get a straight answere of weather or not it is street legal or will pass PA inspection

i dont live in a state that has inspections but from what i hear is that if you keep the bypass closed (ie route the exhaust through a cat back to the muffler) you should be able to pass the smog check, but as far a visual inspections, i don't know.

There are no such thing as a legal E-CUT (bypass). If your car came with a catalytic converter from the factory, then any modification to bypass that is illegal. That is the very purpose of the cat-conv.... reduce emission...

I live in PA. As far as I know all e-cutouts are illegal. Especially in Allegeheny and Beaver Counties.
