Any of you guys have custom gauges? These things are hard to put in and the wiring is completely ridiculous. I need help!!! plz help!!

Do the custom gauges go on top of the stock gauges or the stock gauges gotta come off first? Bcuz it is impossible to get those things out with the needle there, and it's half impossible to get the custom ones in with the needle!!!

I got a 93 Civic EX AT...gimme procedures, links...blah blah...anything that can help, thx.

(figuring you mean indiglos) take my advise don't do it the reason I say that is that my step-brother has em and his gas gauge don't work except for 3/4 full-full tank and I have em and my speedo has been stuck at 59/60 for a month now so it shows that Im doing that wether Im stopped, moving, or parked

basically don't touch those needles, my friends cavy had em and after they were on, his speedometer made full rotations from 0mph all the way up and around until it reached zero. the only thing that did work was the tach.

Please answer, thanx. So basically avoid any contact with those needles with anything and I'll be fine right?

I installed mine right into the trash

they go over the stock gauges, and mess w/ your needles movement.
You CANNOT remove the needles.

Youre also 85% likely to break either the fuel or temp needle right off during this install....you cant fix that.

If you take your time doing it it's not to bad I had indiglos on the same gen civic as yours and never had any problems. It's easier to put th gas/temp one on when you have a full tank, and try not to move the needles around alot.

I heard from my friend that the needle just "slips off", first I thought ppl meant the needle breaking in half when they say "break the needle". How does the needle slip off? Is it attached on tight at all?

The needles do come off but are very hard to do. But for your gauges you slide them over the needles. Just try not to change the position of them.

Damn... I bought some EL gauges over a month ago on ebay but they haven't arrived yet. I'm sort of hoping they don't now if they are that hard to install! What I may do is but a cheap instrument cluster from a scrap yard and try and install them on it. If that work then I can just swap the clusters. If not, then my originals will still be OK. Then again I may just sell them staright away on ebay unless some more people post successful installs.

Ok, yes you CAN remove the needles...but you will never get them back on to the right position...if you do it "right". Then your cluster will not be as accurate as it is (which really isnt that good anyway)

Most people that try to remove the needle end up snapping the metal stud or breaking the internal mechanism instead of the needle just popping off. At that point youre totally F'd and either buy a new cluster or buy the individual cluster parts from honda (which is actually cheaper than people think).
