He is pretty big in the race world he should know what hes talking about.. The problem I have with the flywheel is, all it is, is a stock flywheel that been machined. Youll probably be ok as long as its been balanced correctly and everything.

Ditto, even if the guys says that the strength and integrity of the flywheel is the same.. I dunno, cause the original manufacturer wouldnt put the extra metal in for fun.. you know what i'm saying??

Well, he claims that it is balanced to withing stock specs, but I am skeptical also. He's been around and should know what he's doing, but still... I really don't want to go aftermarket and spend $300 when I can get this. I'd rather put the extra money toward suspension. Well, if I don't do this, I'll probably just stay stock as far as the flywheel goes.

Well guys, I don't like to do anything half-assed, so I'm not going to get this flywheel. There's a good group buy going on for the clutch alone, so I'm going to do that. I was going to get it from BlazinCRX, but he's going to be busy for awhile and isn't starting any new sales.
Here's the quote that Jerome Soh gave me... The flywheel is balanced to within factory specs. We haven't shaved 10 lbs. We've only shaved about 7 lbs. This is totally safe for street use as long as the rev's don't exceed 500 rpm over the stock redline. 500 rpms over redline isn't that much, and I just don't want to mess with it. Lightweight flywheels kick ass. I've had mine for about a year and a half now and I never noticed any problem associated with launching or anything, plus when you throw revs it's nice and quick and aggressive.
One thing, when I installed mine, a day later when I started my car I was grinding the starter. It made the sound like if the car is already running and you try to start it. Anyway, the problem was fairly simple, the flywheel was made so well, as opposed to the stock one that the starter wasn't lining up correctly every time when I started the engine. So the mechanic dude bevelled the starter and I haven't had a problem since. |

So, would you guy say that a 7 lb flywheel is a bad choice for a stock clutch on a '96 Civic Ex? I want faster revs and a little more acceleration, but will I be ok with that light of a flywheel? It is a clutchmaster for $280. I drive well with my manual and don't have a hard time with it. I don't want to get it if I can't safely install it right now without a new clutch. ???
