stock clutch

does anyone know about how long a stock clutch lasts? i've got about 46K on my car. i bought it used with 33k, so i guess i've put about 13k slightly harder than normal miles on it. lately it just hasn't felt like it used to. (or maybe it's because i drove a prelude with a nice act clutch in it... mine feels like mush when i push down on it now )

civics aren't known for really smooth shifting. Mine is at 130k and the clutch just grinds a bit, but that's because of the synchros. Your stock clutch should last awhile. on a side note, has anyone else besides me noticed that civics are a pain in the rear to get into reverse sometimes

^that's your synchros' too...

Clutches can last anywhere from 30k to 200k... mine WENT (just about completely) at like 100k.

don't let it go because it's pretty sudden... I was in the middle of a long drive and I knew it was getting bad but in the middle of the drive it WENT... Started slipping at anything over 3k rpms... NOT fun. Made for an interesting last leg of the drive though.

Slipping is when is looks like the clutch is engaged (i.e. pedal is all the way out), but it doesn't feel that way. So the plates are all the way together, but worn out enough that they're not spinning together. Even though you're done shifting and in gear, the revs aren't totally locked into the wheel speed.
