Engine Swap
Is it at all possible to swap a 2000 GSR engine and tranny and ecu and all that good stuff for an 2002 or better RSX-S or JDM Integra-R engine and tranny and ecu and all that good stuff? And what Corp. sells what i'm looking for with good warrenties and prices?

well i think first of all that would be ubber illegal. you cannot put an older engine into a newer car, or higher mileage engine into a chassis with lower miles. plus idon't know when they did the obd2 to obd2.5 transition so that might be a problem too

i'm not saying an older engine into a newer car or a higher mileage engine into a lower mile chassis ... i'm saying a newer, lower mileage engine into a older, higher mileage chassis. you've got me backwards...lol

hmm...
sure u can swap... a k-series engine into your dc2 frame can be done... you'd need to modify a whole lot of stuff... i think you'd be better off going with a jdm type r motor though... the k-series mounts you can probably get through hasport or area51 fabrications.

I'm just curious and wanting to know more but what benefits would the JDM B18C5 (i think it is) TEG Type-R Engine have over a K20A (RSX/JDM Integra) Engine or H22? (Prelude...I think)Engine or F20? (S2000) Engine? Stats and Specs would be great or just an explaination! THANKS...

The only thing i think you got wrong is a little letter on a engine code. The RSX-S is K20C and JDM ITR is K20A because the JDM is 220hp. Thanks ... those kind of sites i need more of.

Ok first off. Transplanting a K series engine into a B/D series chassis is not only stupid, it's insanely expensive. Changing the wiring to later obd and to run the cars earlier dash will be a pain in the ass in and of itself. However the new K series crankshafts spin like almost every other imports do. Which is in the exact opposite direction of earlier hondas. And there will be major engine clearance problems. If your set on the displacement. Just go with an H22 or a non-VTEC H23 and port the hell out of the head so that it mimics the flow of the new k series heads. Oh well your down one cog in the gearbox and the letter i in front of your VTEC symbol. Damn.

I agree with the above post. A whole lot of trouble and a whole lot of money, and for less of both you could probably get just as much, or more speed/performance out of an engine that will almost just drop in.

I don't want to sound "me too", but I agree with the post above and the post above that...
You'd be much better off buying a super- or turbocharger, cams, exhaust, and building up the bottom end of your b18c1 (pistons, etc...). Upgrading the fuel system as necessary... pretty much you could build your motor as bullet-proof as you wanted to. 8:1 compression ratio... and then force as much air in as possible. 14-18 psi. Woohoo! |
