adjusting the ignition timing on a 1999 Civic LX
Hi, is there a special procedure for adjusting the timing on a 1999 Civic LX? I just hook up the timing light and look for the markings on the belt pulley, I adjusted it to the center marking. Is it O.K or should I look for some plug to short or something else? I wonder because timing, according to what I saw, was way retarded. I just bought the car and felt like it is missing a lot of power, my 1990 Accord LX is like a sports car against the Civic. After I adjusted the timing it feels better but not good enough.
Did I do O.K. or should I recheck and follow a special procedure? |

Thanks for the link, I removed the kick panel and saw the ECU but was not able to locate this connector Is it behind the ECU or something? In my Accord it was easily found, didn't even had to remove the kick panel, in the Civic I didn't see it. Would the timing vary a lot if this plug is not jumped? I adjusted to the center mark (of the three available) without jumping, how far from good is this?
