Who has raced a 3g Eclipst GT V6?
Hey all,
I wanna hear about how the Honda lineup has done against the current 3rd gen Eclipse GT V6's. Any drag races, or highway runs? Come on, post 'em up!! |

Well, I don't think it looks THAT bad. Anyway, Mitsubishi put a decent engine under the hood. A 3.0L V6 that puts out about 205 hp and 210 lb/ft torque. With a 5-speed that should make for some fairly quick runs, even though the car is a bit porky.

IMO its a disgrace... the 1st and 2nd Gens Rocked... the 3rd is a turd.. Maybe if they woulda got another 50 HP and more torque out of it, it maybe a little better.

eh...
A good friend of mine has one, I am pretty sure that the car is stock with the exception of a cat back exhaust and maybe an intake. My car ('89 CRX Si with b16) ran dead even, I even missed third, and It was not hard to keep up either. I thought that those cars were pretty fast. Wonder what would have happened if I really punched it..oh well, maybe next time.

Never ran against a GT but my friend has an RS and it's way too much torque and no top end. All he has is intake and exhaust because that's about all they offer for it! lol
I pulled ahead though, although not by too much because we only got to beginning of 3rd gear. In my opinion they are slow |

I raced one on the freeway once. It was a pretty even race all the way through. I pulled a bit on him up in the higher gears. I

put it this way, only thing hangin with the V6 is the Type-R, H22 lude, GSR and Si. stock vs stock. hybrids are a different story.

i raced one about 2 weeks ago when my car was working. all i noticed was a real ugly aluminum wing on a stock height, stock body kit, stock wheels and stock motor. it was rather funny. needless to say, i destroyed it. they are ugly and slow!!

There was one at the track last year. He had a cold air intake. He ran mid-high 15's. For a 3.0L engine they don't pack much punch.

Eclipse 3gen v6 gt... haha
I raced a 3gen eclipse GT in my toyota highlander- even tho its an automatic, I had him beat by a car length shifting into 3rd and pulled on him from there. There was no competition- He had intake and exhaust (that sounded like crap) and underbody neons... even a bigger ricer than I am... thats all I know about them- I slowed down once I hit 110 and he pulled a flyby, but oh well- I won the race and the cash...

Actually I just had a run in with one last night. It really wasn't even a competition. Its a shame Mitsu didn't put some more thought into those engines.... So much potential.

I never raced a GT but based on those 1/4 mile times, I'd run even with or beat them.......that's good to know in case one ever revs on me!

I agree that they will beat the Civic LX/DX/EX, but Si would be a close race. The 3Gs are lucky to hit low 15's.
