for automatic cars you'd be supprised how much of a difference that a chip CAN make.
it depends on if the chip addresses the shifting though many won't include anything for the shift points in an automatic. if you find a company that makes one designed to shift the A/T better then go get it cuz it will transform your car. i drove in an a/t z28 b4 and after a chip and it was unreal ya ya i know it's got more to work with but. the biggest dif. was in where and when it shifted

Cold Air Intake, and i'd recommend AEM then ingen.
you might wana look at a shift kit or something for your car if its an auto or even a manual swap.

Honda automatic trannies automatically adjust the point at which they shift dependant upon how far the throttle is depressed. It's designed to interpret the desired effect by how hard you want the car to be driven. At WOT, they automatically shift at redline. With the throttle barely depressed, it's around 3K rpm. Some other companies do it differently- a cruising/sport button, or the new M3's "driving strategy" selector. The Honda system actually works very well, and I believe having it chipped would be a waste of money.
