Racin Rice i need ur help
Here is my problem: i got a Compaq Presario 7360 (AMD K6-2 500). Recently i put in it a new IDE controller that will add up to 4 more IDE or EIDE drives. After installing the driver for it (under win2k) everytime i scrool the mouse i get an annoing song in my speakers (only when one of the music programms are running). I unninstalled the driver, removed the card but the sound remains there. I tried chasing it thru the registry, cleaned up the old driver files, cleaned up the regisdtry but nothing. Any ideas ?
thanks man

hmm... All I can suggest is maybe looking at task manager before and after see if theres anything that changes in the stuff thats running, see what programs are in memory that may look suspect, You would think It have something to do with your sound, but you said you took out your sound card... Is the sound coming thru a speaker in the computer or speakers hook to your sound card? Thats some strange stuff I havent seen it do before. Id just keep looking and see if you can find a setting or something somewhere.. For fun disable windows sounds and see if it stops... It should...
Civic Addict is a Windows 2000 man, maybe he may have some suggestions..

no no, i get the sound when good ol' winamp is running or any other sound program. RR did not take the sound card out, i took the ide card out. Sound is integrated to the motherboard same with video) As a temporary fix the mouse is used as a usb mouse and it did not occur yet. Stupid, stupid, stupid Microsoft

That's an odd one, but then again it is a Compaq(no offense, I'm Compaq certified so I deal with them regularly)
Is it an actual sound (like chimes) or a beep of sorts? Why did you add the IDE card? You won't even be able to fit 4 more drive in there(if I remember correctly you only have 1 5.25" bay open & 1 3.5"). Sorry I missed this one...

RR: running sp2 for win2k is like asking for problems.
Civic_Addict: the original case had 2 5.25 bays and 3 3.25 bays. I was ashamed to own a compacq ao i decided to get another case for it. With some minor work to it i am able to put 8 3.5 drives and 4 5.25 drives in there. The only problem will be the source, which is a shitty 250W not enough to carry 8 hdd's or cd-rom drives. Now for the sound: it sounds like a messed up bearing, or a messed up driveshaft axle.
