Need Help, Might buy Honda Accord
Hi, I'm Lauren. I just turned 16 yesterday (although I have had my license for 8 months) and this weekend, I have the opportunity to buy a 1991 Honda Accord LX. The car has power everything, cruise, tilt wheel, air, AM/FM Radio, and cassette. It has 161,000 miles on it and has been well maintained by my grandparents. They want $3,000 for it. My question is, how long would this car last, is it a good car, and would it be worth it to buy it? Thanks for your help!

if it has been kept up...like oil changes every 3k, timeing belt changed...not run hard... uhh stuff like that, it should run for a long time.. the price sounds fair if, the body is in good shape and the interior is cool.. if you have the $$ id say go for it! but being your grandparents thay might make you some kind of deal.... its a good car.. and there is a lot of aftermarket stuff for it if you want to hook it up or somethin...

hmm thats a ton of mileage
although it is a Honda and if you said it was maintained well, and you keep on maintaining it well it could very well last much longer is it a manual transmission or Automatic? something you may have to watch for is the brakes and clutch and gears (if manual) they go in most old cars real quick i don't think i'd honestly buy a car with more than 100,000miles on it because very often what will happen is you will spend more money fixing anything wrong with than what you originally paid for it I bought my car at 96,000miles and found out that it needed 2 new motor mounts, and new brake rotors that overall cost...somethign like $500 i think...it's been awhile and I dont know where the reciepts are but make sure you have money in case these unexpected repairs are needed one more question, has the car ever been in an accident? watch for that, it is your grandparents so I'm pretty sure they wouldn't lie to you like mine would hah btw welcome to HS, chica |
