D16a6 head gasket on a d16y8...

woudl this head gasket redce the d16y8's compression ratio? the d16a6 has a 9.1 and the d16y8 has a 9.6...so it seems as it would.

thanks

only by .2

so you'll go from 9.6 to 9.4

why do you wanna drop compression anyway? 9.6:1 isnt very high.

^for boost

not much of a change...not really worth it. Get an aftermarket y8 gasket thats thicker if youre looking for a more significant drop

if you have a low displacement engine you don't wanna lower compression. the higher the compression the more low end power and less spool time. b16 and b18 have compressions of what? like 10.something :1 and they're fine w/ boost.

my advice would be to spend your money on MSD's little thing that retards timing under boost.
