wiring question
My '92 Civic doesnt have rear speakers, but when i went to install my new cd player i noticed there were wires for them. There arent any holes for the speakers, but would the wiring be back there if i wanted to add some 6x9's? I've looked around a little bit, but the only wires i see back there are for the tail lights. Where would they run back from? Thanks

Ok, if you have the wiring back there, which it should be, here are the color codes for the rear speaker wiring :
Right rear pos.-Red w/ yellow stripe Right rear neg.-Brown w/ white stripe Left rear pos.-Blue w/ yellow stripe Left rear neg.-Grey w/ white stripe Hope this helps. Chris |

Oh yeah, I forgot...if you don't see the wiring, then you'll have to run your own from the back of the head unit to the rear of the car...going UNDERNEATH the carpet- I've seen my share of do-it-yourself jobs where the speaker wiring is run under the seats on top of the carpeting..
Good luck |

Well there are wires for the rear speakers that connect to the head unit, but im just not sure if they run all the way back, or if theyre just "dummy" wires or something like that. What would be the path the wires take to get to the rear of the car? I'd much rather use the wires that are already there than have to pull sh!t apart and run my own.

If it didn't come with rear speakers, there probably isn't speaker wire running back there. You'll have to run your own.

check on the driver side on the back side of your rear seat. fold the seat down and feel under the carpet. there might be wires there, cause thats where mine were. if not there, check the other side.
if not, run your own wire under the carpet on one side, along with other signal wire. run power wire, for an amp and such, on the other side. |
