Question About Intake?
Hi,
im new to this forum so first of all i'd like to say whats up to everybody, I own a 2000 honda accord v6 4 door, and i wanted to add an intake to it ,but i dont even know where to start. What would be a good intake to buy? And about what are the HP gains that an intake can make. some people tell me around 10-20 but then again i dont know. |

I say AEM CAI is one of the best you can buy. I very much doubt a 10-20 hp gain. There are other intakes such as INJEN and iceman.

What other mods are you planning on doing? If your just going to do simple boltons, dont waste your money! Go buy a K&N filter for $35 and get pretty much the same results. Unless you just want the look. Iceman, AEM, Injen.. They are all very similar.
You will see more power gains from the intake with a more complex built up motor. Let the debating begin!

don't do an intake... either save your money or spend it on something else... it adds basically no power

I slightly disagree with the others. I think that for the money, an AEM or comparable intake adds a decent amount of power. The problem is that no simple bolt-on will give you too much power. If you just want a little more "oomph" and some sound, an intake will serve you well IMHO.

Haven't you ever wondered why your car runs like sh*t in the summer and has a quicker step in the winter. It is because you are using colder air, which is denser that hot air. This is how an intake works, it doesn't take air from inside of your engine compartment. It takes it outside of the car, no where near your headers, or your engine block.

??? only a cold air intake would do that. short rams take it right from the engine bay. and i think only the k20 has the filter behind the motor which would be the only way it would be near your header as well. if you get an intake expect a 3-6hp increase at most. you'll pick up a little torque with a cold air or a little upper rpm with a short ram. you'll also get better gas mileage to boot.
