reducing rear drag

Im really interested in doing something to reduce the amount of air getting trapped in the rear bumper to cut down on drag.
Not as a speed mod, to increase mpg (slightly).

NO, Im not cutting holes.....

So, who can make something like this?

Only...not so damn gargantuan

I have almost zero fabrication skills and wouldnt know where to get a sheet of aluminum anyway...what about expanding foam (if kept away from the muffler)?

I would suggest not making a large lifting surface in the rear of your car

I tried buying a piece of sheet aluminum like that last summer that shit is expensive, some tin snips and some sheet metal screws, that thing doesn’t look that hard to make, though I would try to bolt it to some factory locations

the real problem is that it would have to be perfect, or else it would catch even more air than before

Do you have a direct link? All I saw in their marketplace was classified ads for used parts and then apparel in the store.

Im sure they dont have anything for hondas, but Id like to see what they came up with for evo's

you should take a real good pic of the underside of your car like the one you posted, just so we can see if it'd be easy to do.

I can make that shit. I just dont think it is worth the time and effort enough to make a difference tho. Functionality wise, putting holes on your rear bumper will probably be better..... but I'm not really into that kind of mods....

I enjoy fabricating stuff. When I get back, I will fab up my own traction bar.

Pat, all those parts and tools can be found on your nearest Home Depot or Lowes........

First of all I would suggest using sheet aluminum... and something with like a 1/16" thickness that can be bent and cut easily but not flimsy. You can cut this easily with almost anything, but a $80 band saw would work well... I have one. It would be easy to make with MINIMUM fab skills.. only thing that would be a pain is all the measuring and fitting. ... just tedious.

And the metal you can get at any metal supplier... you just have to do a search on yahoo yellow pages.. took me a while to find one, and they typically sell in HUGE quantities, but the place I found gives me all their scraps if I want including stainless... and their scraps can be as large as 3x3'.
