What motor is in my car?

I just got a 1988 Honda CRX Si, and I can't find the engine code plate like most cars have in the engine compartment. I don't have the hood right now if it is located on the hood. What motor do I have? My friend said its a D16A6, I thought they only came in the 90 and 91 Si's. So If anyone can tell me it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

look on the engine then: it should be near the bellhousing and that window to see your timing marks

It should be on your engine, check it. and yes I'm pretty sure you have the d16.
