Cold Air Intake Noise

Alright, when I am slightly and slowly accelerating my intake makes a "whistling noise". If I give it a lot of gas it doesnt make the noise and if I press on the gas really fast it almost sounds like it is sucking for air for a second. I have heard others say they have this problem. Has anyone heard about this? Could it be the the filter or what? I just want to get this fixed because the whistling noise is really annoying and I know it shouldn't be doing it.

The noise is kind of like a "seeeeeeeee" whistling noise. Please help me if you can. Thanks

It's my understanding that the whistling noise is usually caused by a non-perfect fitting where the filter meets the intake. You can try wrapping around it with a decent tape to see if that fixes the problem.

As for a sucking sound when you stomp on it, if you just think for a second of how the engine works, then you'll realize that's a normal sound. You open the throttle, which causes a vacuum and the air starts sucking in, however the RPM of the engine doesn't immediately skyrocket because there's a delay between starting to suck at the intake end and actually being able to use the air for combustion in the cylinders. You may also notice a different sound when you go from high throttle and let it idle down to normal throttle, because there's a vacuum in the whole pipe, but when you close the throttle the air has nowhere to go, similar to what causes turbos to require blow-off valves (but turbos deal with much higher pressures/vacuums).

Probably just the sound of the rush of air going by the throttle body butterfly(similar to what causes a whistle to whistle), just with the new intake you are able to hear it. Because with the oem tube and resonator the sound is masked.

I have had the same problem with mine. It's the hose that goes from the injection to the inatake. I had to shorten it a few inches and it was fine.

whats real cool is when you find the exact rpm that makes the sound. then balance right there, and everyone thinks you have a turbo. he he.
