government control
Ok with all the recent spyware/popup shit going around, here's my take on it. To me i feel that spyware, is an invasion of privacy. In all actuality, what is really happeneing is that somebody (er company) is putting things onto your computer which is your personal possession. That would be as if i went up to someone's car and changed the hubcaps on it, to give you a weird analogy. Popups are another form of sleezball advertisement., it's right up there with the wonderful telemarketers who call you at 8:59 on a sunday night.
IMO i think that the government should control this. Its out of hand. Afterall i know they put limitations on telemarketers, i feel that the should make pop ups illegal, and consider any type of spyware a virus, and deal the appropriate consequences to the programer. That's just my take, after deleting 5 programs that i didn't download that caused my internet explorer to not work.

well the government cant even controll the prono on the net. they just ruled it unconstitional to ask people if they are 18 to enter a porn site. personally i do agree. but i dont think they will ever do anything. its just the spam issue, the internet provider has to deal with it.

The problem is that spyware and adware is often hidden in programs you download and hidden waaaaay inside the "terms agreement", it usually states that the stuff is there. By clicking "ok" you've agreed to having it on your PC. Besdies, how would the government track down the people who gave it to you? I like the idea...but the logistics are next to impossible.

Let's not forget that the government laid forth law allowing the music companies to hack into your computer and delete alleged illegal songs on your computer with no search warrant or any other sort of due process, they establish "probable cause" only be their allegation are are trusted by the government to do it.
