Adjusting ignition timing
I tried this out in the Civic forum:
Ok I'm supposed to remove the passenger side kick panel to get to some wires to jump but what and where is the kick panel and how do I remove it? I also need to know what the Vehicle Emissions Control Information(VECI) label says seeing how my hood has been replaced and thats where it is. Any other useful info on doing this would be greatly appreciated. |

The kick panel is the side of the car under the dash. Basicly look next to your feet towards the outside of the car when you are sitting in the passenger seat. Your ecu and main harness will be under the panel also. You are going to look for a 2 pin blue plug. Just jump the 2 with a paperclip, set you timing, remove the jumper and then go drive.

Ok thanks i got it all figured out now. I got confused cause i was looking for a panel and there was only carpeting but i found the wires i needed. So does advancing your timing really give you a increase in hp/tq?

Yeah, maybe 2%. But hey, it's free power.
