removing scratches in vinyl and plastic

I believe one of the owners of my car before me had a dog or something, and whatever it was left scratches on the plastic of my glove compartment, and lower part of arm rest console . They are pretty deep. Any ideas on removing the scratches. Sanding, etc. Thanks in advance.
