Anti-theft radio security code?
Hi,
I got my 1998 Accord from a Honda dealer on Friday. I did some research and found that the factory radio/cassette has a security code that must be entered in the event the battery is disconnected. If this is not done the radio is inoperative. Is this correct? How do I get my code if needed? As always thanks for any help you can provide. Regards, R.Q. |

That is correct.
You must remove the stereo to get the SN off the back of the radio, then you can take the SN to the dealer and they can pull up the security code for it. b |

the code should also be on a sticker placed inside your glove compartment

Interesting, I'll have to check mine then. I don't have the code either.....
But, uhhhhh...what's the point of a security code if it's printed somewhere that any thief can find? b |

I spoke to the dealer parts dept. They said that I need the SN then they can give the code. Unfortunately, in my car there is no sticker in the glove compartment.

I'll check on mine for a code this evening.
But what I first posted (what you just posted) is just what the dealer told me. Good thing they tell the same story. b |

Well this is the latest I found out from the dealer: The 1998 Honda Accord LX does not use an anti-theft code. This feature is solely on the EX model.
