Damn peeps who don't know cars.....

So I see this add and I'm stoked, not only is it what i want but it's arlready got some things I want. I call the guy up, he's 16, a total noob, and doesn't even know how to get to his house. So i'm like whatever. Get his addy, look it up, it's a 45 min drive up north. He couldn't help much so i had to see it in person. Get on my bike and start the trip up there, ave 90-100 mph and make up 10 mins.

Get up there, him and a friend are waiting for me. At first glance I can tell the car is a BUCKET. Insepct the car and this is what i find.

manual trans (clutch feels like a spounge and the shifting is gritty)
wht/gry (outside is white but the inter is an off blue'ish, not sure where gry came from)
rebuilt SOHC 1.6L 16 valve ZC motor with about 40k miles (not this thing was a peice, could hear that it needed a valve job, was super dirty, some duck tape on the dist cap, etc... I'm not even sure it was a ZC, can't remember now, and didn't check cause it looked like crap and i didn't care.)
intake (held together with a coat hanger, and he had the original 2 port DX fuel injection, not the 4 port that the ZC should have)
'99 civic si front seats (they weren't even realy bolted down, moved teh seat back and almost pulled it out of the car)
front mugen bumper ( in alright shape, mounting was horrible and it was about to fall off.)
carbon fiber hood w/ hood pins (shaved type, not the rolled type, looked like crap, pin job was a f*ck up if i've ever seen one)
alarm (had no purpose, upon looking closely only a fool would steal this thing.)
carbon fiber shiftknob (lmfao, $10 ebay special.)
shaved emblems (could still see the holes.)

So i drive the thing and am even more disapointed, my DX has more power then this thing, tires are rubbing everyhwere, and there is a hole or something in the cat, sounds bad(not the good bad, the shitty bad). and one of the head lights was blacked out like a m40 blew up in it.

So I tell the kid some story so that he doesn't feel sad because i'm not buying this POS, get on the bike and bail out....

I'm just pissed me off that someone selling something like this was such an idiot, knew nothing about the car and it was a POS....

I had my camera that way if it was looking bomb (as in good) I could snap a couple and ask you peeps. After I saw it I just wanted to leave. It was a total check out my car, vroom vroom and then the bumper falls off.

I think Recycler uses dynamic pages. You can goto www.recycler.com, go to find it, look for civic si, it's the one that cost 2100 from 7/1/03.

^ no offense but what's sooo shitty about it...

you should've offered him 1000 cash... he probobly would take it...

and you'd have a decent project car...

all the stuff you mentioned just seemed really minor... especially if you plan a swap in the future...

the shell looks to be in pretty good shape.

^ I'd almost agree with you, but even at 1000$ it's take easily that much to get it in decent shape.... I'd rather spend 2500$-3000$ and get a non modified si.

thinking if I had the money and time I would've offered around 500-1000 like they said and make it a project car, but that's just me
