15 inch wheels..better bang for the least bucks ?
I was considering getting 17 inch rims but i rectently talked to a friend of mine down att he track (runs a GSR engine on his civic with type R internals) and he told me that the smaller the rim the better time i can get...I've modded my civic down from a 17.4 quat. mile to a 16.6 since adding my exhaust and intake and poppd on some yokohomas...my dorp also increased my traction like a mother...but I was wondering if I should go with 15 inch rims..right now I've got my stock 16's on there...but I'd like to run at least a 16.4 until I can get my headers and cam gear out of the way. Any opinions on whether I should go with the 15's ? Also..I if i do go with 15's i'd like to get the SI rims...anyone know of any other good rims? Thanks guys. If you have pics of SI rims on a red car, please post them. Thanks.

15's are cool, but if you really want light rotational mass for drag racing, slap on some HX rims (11.75 pounds a piece) with some 205/55-14's.
If you want 15" rims, get them as light as possible. Some obvious ones are the Volk Racing TE37's, Racing Hart CP-035's (they come in 15", right?), BBS RK's, Kosei K1's. For a stock look, the '96 GSR rims (the ugly ones with the big center cap that says "Acura") are the lightest by a little bit. Check out http://www.wheelweights.net for more rim weights. |

Yep, forgot about them Rotas! Check out the Rota Slipstreams, Rota Subzeroes, and Rota Circuit 8's. Konig also makes some lightweight ones ... the Heliums and Greenlights coming to mind. Then, you also have SSR's Competitions, which are very lightweight and extremely strong. A new one is the rim from Jax; it's pretty light. And you got the 17" Centerline RPM, which weighs 14 pounds, I believe, and it's freaking 17". Wow! My point is that there are many out there as you can see. |

I have the rota C8s on my civic. They are really nice wheels for the money, and they are pretty light too. The only thing I dont like about them is the fact that they only came in +38 offset, and rub a little sometimes. Slipstreams come in +40 which may help a little. I would definately buy another set..
Check www.groupbuycenter.com they have good deals on them out there often. Ive had a couple sets of 17s in the past. 15s are much better if you dont mind giving up some looks for performance.

Try not to concentrate on the speed aspect of your car. You've got a DX.

Rotas are supposed to be pretty nice. And yes 17's will slow you down. They generally weigh more.

I've read two articles that have tested different tire sizes on the track, and in both 16" came out above all other sizes, of course the lighter the better.
I'll sell you my HX rims... thier 15's real light.. brand new .. $500 plus shipping .

The Rota Slips actually weight more then the Rota circuit 8's... I think... I have the Rota Circuit 8's on my car, 15's sporting 205/50's. They grip super tight. the Rims only weight 10lbs each.
