can you answer my questions?!?
Ok i have 2 questions here.... when it comes to stereos i dont know all too much but enuf to get me by..... but my questions are:
what would happen if i was to connect 3 subs on a 2 channel amp?? does that distribute the power to all 3 subs?? or does that change the ohm settings??? reason is cuz i want to add another sub but i dont want to go for another amp, since i already have 2.. so i need to know what would happen if i added another one to the amp... the second question is whats this ohm thing??? how do you set different ohms like 1,2,4 ohms?? and why is this important??? thanks for your help people...:: |

YOu would have to wire them in parallel. They would all get the same watts. Provided the amp is running mono.
Depending if the amp is able to support the lower resistance, we'll know if you need anoter amp or what. You should list your equipment (be specific with models) then I could give you an exact picture.

as in one sub for each channel then bridge the third???
i think its the JBL 600... or maybe its 600 watts??? i dunno.. i'll give you the exact specs when i go to the car and see it.... i know its dumb but i dont want to thump too hard... so thats y i only want 1 amp.... it'll prolly save me some headaches but oh well.... so if i run 3 subs.. most likely JL 12"... it'll distribute 200 rms to each??? oh and i have a line driver too.... if that makes ne diffference |

JBL the bp 600.1 ??
The D-class mono amp? If so, then you'd have to wire the subs in parallel to achieve a load between 1 and 2 ohms. No difference for that amp. 1.33 Is the number you'd want. You get this by having 3 x 4ohms in parallel. Nôpe not 1 sub to each channel them bridge the third.. All 3 in parallel = 1 pair of wires, to the amp in mono mode. If you have a bp600.1, you are already probably running mono, so it wont be a problem.

so when you mean one set of wires... your talking about having each sub connect to the mono channel on the amp rite???
is this even a good idea?? yea i know its a class d amp... but i thought it was 2 channel?? oh well... maybe i should buy two then.... |

Trust me, you won't need 2 of them. I had a Zr 360 hooked to my 3 12in JL's and they pounded so hard that I couldn't be in the car with it cranked up. Just make sure you wire them in parallel and you should be fine. Tell us what ohm the subs are.

Yes. each + from sub, to the + on amp. And same for - . If its a D class, then its made to run mono. Now since you have a d calss, you are probably running 2 x 4 ohms in parallel. That would yield a 2 ohm load. If you add another sub to the combo (another 4ohm of course, all in parallel) you would achieve a 1.33 ohm load. That would suite your 600.1 fine. each sub would get 200 watts. You just need to confirme that your subs a 4 ohm.

not for your setup..
cause then you'd have to add up all the ohms..

how would he run 2 channels parallel into 3 spekers? Wouldn't he have to run it series parallel?! Parallel by it self would only work for 2 subs

his amp is made to run mono. No matter how many subs he has, the best way is to end up with mono routing. 3 x 4 ohm subs in parallel, gives a final mono load of 1.33 mono. That JBL amp is stable down to 1ohm mono. ok?

I feel u, but i mean the wiring part. How would u wire 3 woofers together parallel on 2 channels or even mono? I don't see how that would work |

I think you're confused. Provided the amp has been bridged to run mono: You can run any number of speakers parallel or series. What is running series parallel? Never heard of that one. |
