Gauge needles

Ive got a problem. My needles are painted a flourscent orange so that they would light up when orange/white light hits them. But i bought blue indiglo faces so it shines blue on the orange needles and they no longer light up. What should i do? I was thinking sand off the orange on the bottom side where it's painted and then paint a different color there that would light up. Will this work, and if so then wht color should i pick. The gauges are white during the day.
