No...but fuel is. You can hear the guy say something like "he's probably running a wet kit" and he's probably right. If you don't use nitrous right with a wet kit fuel can puddle up in the intake. Then all it takes is a spark or even a bit of excessive heat and boom. I've seen throttle bodies that had their blades bent back like tacos and even intakes blown off of blocks after nitrous backfires. Shit ain't pretty.
