shock caps?

when i had my shocks and springs installed, the right front shock came up through where it is held in the engine bay and hit the underside of the hood. The shop said a whole lot of nonsense about how a shorter spring needs a shorter shock, but we all know konis and eibach springs will work together. Their solution was to install stronger caps that hold in the shocks and also hold the shock higher by about an inch on front of the car. Has this sort of thing happened to anyone else? does this seem like there will bea ny problems with this set up? thanks a lot
