ZC Motor
I saw an add in the paper today from a guy who's selling a ZC motor with turbo 45,000KMS for $1000 complete. Is this engine worth it. I know it's non-vtec but is it the same as a B18B1. I have a '98 civic thanx guys.

you might want to check your local laws first, generally its not passable to have a motor that is older than the car. ie, you need a motor that comes from a 98 and up. this is just what I've heard, so dont quote me.
and a zc is not that great of a motor. its great if your on a budget and want a little more power, but using it as a platform for turbo applications is asking for trouble. I've read that the connecting rods are very weak, and you don't want to run very much boost at all. again, this is all things i've heard and read in doing research for my car. in the end, i decided against the zc, and went with a b18a1. and no, it iis NOT the same as a b18b. what you are looking at is a D series motor from the jdm civics. its rated at around 130hp, and comes in a few flavors, some of which are complete ripoffs (uneducated people seem to think any d series is a ZC, or anything from japan is a ZC) know what you are looking at before you make a decision. google is wonderful. |

Thanx for your input guys, I probably won't get it. It doesn't sound like it's worth it and I'm not gunna waste money on something no matter how good of a deal it seems. I'll just wait and save up some money and get a much better motor or a new car. Cheers.

He he he... yup, it's not the same as a B18B at all.... I wouldnt pay $1000 for it since I can get a full B18B (minus tranny) for about $150 at the bone yard around here....
