Getting a new Si
Ok, Ive been searching for an si and about 2 private sellers should accept my civic 2001 as a trade in. One has 75k mileage with salvage title and the other had 112 mileage and had a clean title.
The one with the salvage title had too many dents and color was faded. The clean title one just had a loud engine and took like 5 seconds to start the damn motor. What I wanted to know is what else to look for when testing a vehicle's condition. Any advice would be appreciated thanks! |

I'd keep looking, it may take longer to find one in good condition but it's worth the wait.

Look into Teg GSR's as well. There are more of them out there than a 99-00 Si....

I cant settle for an Acura. I need to get the most mileage out of my car. GSRs require premium.
Does anyone know what octane # the civic needed? Oh and I drive about 100 miles per day. |

I could be wrong but i do believe that you are not required to use premium gas in an Acura or a GSR. I have ridden in two and have never seen where they tell you that you have to use premium. I am thinking some of your friends are possibly feeding you a bunch of BS. just my .02 though

why would the gas it takes determine what car you buy!? your talking about 2-3 bucks at most difference w/ each fill up.
just keep the one you got if thats whats most important to you. |

I don't see the point in selling the car you have. Your more concerned about what gas to buy rather than what car you want. But thermal is right there are more Gsr's on the road than there were si's. So that could be an option.

first of all, i think you're a cheap bastard if you just don't want to buy premium because your car deserves it, basically, high compression, low grade gas= detonation; er bye bye b-series, and secondly if you put on that many miles, why don't you just give up the whole tuner scene and get a car that has good fuel econonmy.

I ono..... the sohc civics are whack.... Im just hoping I can get a minimum of 10 grand for my civic. I have been looking and all of the si civics Ive seen are in poor condition.
Of course I will put in premium if It is required, but my sohc civic requires regular unleaded. |

..... you will eventually find out that enhancing honda performance is expensive on any aspect. Bottom line, Hondas are not the fastest imports on the road. It will take some $$$ to get it up there, just like most cars. Gas will be the last thing that will come to your mind. You will make mistakes and you will be disappointed on some mods that you'll buy.............. but if you are into it, you'll have to keep going....... Goodluck

Thermal's right, honda's are a blast to drive, but look at his cars I'm sure it took alot of time and money to get them where they are, but both his civic and integra are impressive.
