books.. help....

ok so i have a paper to write... lets say its long and due alot sooner than i'd like. i have to write it on 4 books in american literature from 1877 on. i'd like them to in some way relate to america durring this time, or be classics that have a decent amount of info on them..

the first book im doing is The Jungle (about early american meat packing industry and the lack of regulation)

so i need any and all books anyone can think of.

oh.. last semster i had the same project but from 1877 and earlier. i did uncle toms cabin, johnny tremain, the scarlet letter, and adventures of tom sawyer just for an idea of what is needed

Both of those are great. I love them.

Hey, when did Thoreau write, "On the Duty of Civil Disobedience"?

Great one too, did a paper on it.
