91 ACCORD Heater controls

I have a 1991 Honda Accord with the manual dials for heater/AC level and temperature. The middle dial or temperature control dial, is busted as it has many times before. WHen I mean busted there is no pressure/resistance when you turn the dial and it absolutely does not change the temp. I have had this fixed in the past and it cost me around $500 I am certain i can do this myself, could anyone give me advice and / or direct me to a website that shows pictures of this part of the dash removal /locaiton of all screws etc., I appreciate any advice. I certainly couldn't make it any worst than the last dealership I took it to.

This is a common problem with these vehicles. My mom has a 92 EX 4-dr and my dad has a 92 EXR 2-dr and both had this problem.

For a temporary solution you can adjust the temperature under the hood near the firewall you can find the cable running to the heater box.

On both vehicles we had to change the knob for the temperature selector and we also changed the cables while we were at it.
