more questions
thanks for that link. They actually have a couple fairly close to me, thanks.
I think I've decided on my first mod: AEM cai greddy headers Greddy Evo cat back what do you guys think that will sound like and how much horse do you think I'll get?? where can I research some exhaust and intake manifolds?? what companies make some decent ones? I'm gonna be full of questions for awhile....................................... |

I personally would go with DC sports headers, but Greddy makes a very good product that I'm sure you'll be happy with.
Gains around 6-8 whp can be expected, and it will sound great! p.s. Don't worry that you have lots of questions, that's what we're here for!

Regarding headers..
There is another alternative. Not very popular, but it's what I did. I had my exhaust manifold'S insides, grinded and polished. I dont know very much about the procedure, but it worked great for me. You should check in your local speed shops to see if they do it.

Oh cool, I've thought about doing that before, did you notice gains from it? From what I understand, you won't gain quite as much HP doing that, but it can still be good. Oh yeah, quick ? for you Accord Man... I heard that it isn't great to get headers b4 exhaust, but I don't see why it would matter, though you wouldn't see the full benefits until you get an exhaust... am I correct? Thanks...

It certainly helped my low-end. That is for sure. Finally I had a certain amount of beef at take-off. I'm pretty sure it gives you more torque than headders. The diameter, texture, and level of polish have to be good for this to work, otherwise you wont be doing much good. One major imporvement you could do is a high flow cat. Most people ignore it, but its quiet important for an Accord.. There was a wacky idea circulating, that peeps who changed the headder before getting an exhaust were having funky ideling problems.. Those were bogus claims. But since you're going to get the exhaust eventually, why not get it before the headders.. An exhaust is more *fun*.. Gives you a little more pleasure.

Thanks for the insight. Yeah, exhaust is on my list of things to do, along with a drop, clutch, blah blah... I've recently had a "financial situation" with school and stuff, so some of that will have to wait, though I hope to get a clutch and drop soon. I'm just not good at doing this stuff, because I don't like to buy stuff that's not really high quality, so the drop is going to cost a lot. I'm going to get the clutch from Blazin CRX though for a good price. The install will cost around 2-300 though.

It cost me 150$ CAD.. But its usually much more expensive.. The dude owed me big favor. For the full procedure/treatment, I guess you could atleast double that amount. And you might have missed this: Quote:
Are am I the one that's missing something?! Sorry that was pointless.. I'm tired and hungry.. ::

Hey dlock19, Accord Man is saying to do that to the stock headers, so you wouldn't buy new headers, just intake and exhaust.

sorry guy's I think I'm a little confused. Is it feasable(?) to grind and polish the manifold while also getting headers or would that just be a waste??
Like I said I really am new to all this and really do appreciate all the info everyone has given. It's all helped alot. |

Guys, correct me if I'm wrong, because I too have been confused on this before, but doesn't exhaust manifold = headers?

ok dudies..
94_Acc speakes the truth. both are the same! exhaust manifold = headders In general the word headder is used for an aftermarket exhaust manifold. better?

V6's & V8's have headers we only have a header(exhaust manifold)
i have a little knowledge of some headers but these are still my opinions: DC= paying for name not quality, several individuals have had the welds break on their header and everyone I look at on a car has really shitty welds Greddy= good quality for money but only has a 4-2-1 design, but stilll that design seems like it outpreforms other 4-2-1 headers Kamikazee-good quality 4-1 header with ceramic coating for cooling purposes, allows for the most gain these are just opinions but i hope they help |

There was a test in one of the import mags i get a few months ago, and DC showed the most gains.
Like Accord Man said, get a 4-2-1 for a mildly modded street driven car.

do not believe a lot of what you read in import mags please, they are biased to who writes them the biggest check for doing the testing and advertising
i am not saying that they are wrong though, as I sated those were my opinions and are based alot on the quality of the product over it's true performance |

your car looks...well fast..
Articles can be biased, but dyno charts are usually pretty accurate. Similar testing conditions/setups.. bla bla bla...

we have been trying to collect some good video from the days at the track. I have a buddy racing the East Coast Honda Challenge next spring and he needs the video to show sponsors. I am in the process of building my in car camera mount.
i wish i had in car of the last day at the track. i was going by Type R's, 5.0 mustangs, race prepped mercedes and other cars. it is amazing how much the driver influences how fast the car is. there was a guy learning how to drive a Speedvision world cup porsche that had problems catching me. |

i am going to VIR this weekend which is a 3.3 mile long road course and plan on getting some in car video. I will try to get it up on the net some how so you guys can see it. The only problem is that it is a very fast course and i am going to be on the track with M5's, Vipers, 911 torbos and such, should be pretty interesting.
