thought you would be interested
im sorry if this is a repost, i was watching home improvment and they were talking about V8s. they had this little tiny one. so i looked for it on the internet. i found them http://www.conleyprecision.com/
they are tiny V8s with 3.4 horse power. its amazing just to think how small the pistons are and the water pump. and it all works and it can fit in your hand. you can add a blower, bigger radiator, diff water pump, carbs, and pistons for higher compression. they also have a V10 viper motor that only one was made because they built it, then the building burned down melting all the molds. they want $250k for it. but just $4.5k for the little V8. i just think it is amazing how they can do that and would share it with you all |

You'd be amazed how small motors get. We had an assignment in my auto fundamentals class my first semester here to find the world's smallest internal combustion engine. Turns out it's a rotary engine about the size of a penny being developed at (if memory serves me) UC Berkley as a battery of sorts. Their prototpye produced enough power to run a laptop for about 3-4 hours on a shot glass full of butane or similar gas and had zero emissions (unless you count water vapor). They were looking to double it's power output and efficiency.

That's just downright amazing.
The price is pretty steep, but I'm sure that a lot of work went into building that. 4 1/2 years to build the V-10

They do it because (apparently) people are willing to throw down $3K a pop for the cars. Hell...I'd do it for that much per car.
