I think it is considered a moving violation. No idea why. I got a side marker ticket on my old car and it was a moving violation. Pissed me off.

found out from a friend of mine who is a cop in mich that it is not a moving violation but on the other hand it still does depend on the cop. They also said that u can have 30% deeper tint on ur driver and passanger than it was stock but i think that is shit bc i was told u can only have a 3" strip on the top in mich.

no thats not true you can have the fronts tinted but you have to be able to see the driver and passener from outside. if looking throu driver side the passenger can simply be a silhouette and vise versa for driver from passenger side. If you really want it, you can have just a strip for front door tint....but why would you want to??
Just to break it down for you: rear passenger windows can be limo (this is risky - depends on area and cop) rear glass can be limo (same as above) front door glass can only be 30% deeper than stock (this is true) windsheild no tint except for that 3" bar at the top that is actually supposed to only be blue, however, the cops can only ticket you for another color if they get you for something else (ie speeding). 3" Vinyl bars are also legal simply because it is not tint. However, if you want to roll safe (and you do because mich cops have nothing better to do than to pull people over becuase theyre bored) go with a simple 30% over stock on the rear glass (rear and passenger) and just a light stock dark tint for the front doors Hope this helps clear some stuff up for ya |
