Missing piece in my head?

A few weeks ago, I brought my head into the house to show one of my brother's friends. While I was picking it up to put it away..this little guy fell out. I've never seen it before and have NO idea where it came from. I've moved the head many times before with 180 rotations and never had this before. Any ideas on where the hell it might have come from?

Two pics..one close up and one on my hand to give you an idea of its size.

Which head is that? I just recently put my ITR head together and not remember seeing that. That thing is not hollow right? Were you the one who put the head together? Tha piece looks like a some sort of aligning device... I dunno....

This is starting to frustrate me. It's a b16a head. It's not hollow, very solid and has some weight to it for being so small.
I've never seen it before in all of my times playing with the head or just flopping it around to look at it. At the same time, there's nothing in the house that the piece would belong to. I want to just drop it but at the same time, I'll be paranoid if I don't know what it is. I should just take it to a machine shop and see if they know..
