although i agree, its hard to have this debate since there are very strong anti-pot feelings. as far as health reasons go, yes there arnt many drawbacks, expecially compaired to what is availble to 18 year olds, let alone 21+. however anyone who does choose to smoke must keep themselves modivated otherwise you do turn into a pile of nothing.

That's what I'm sayin' man.
And the whole it's as bad as cigarettes. First off, no it's not, it's never been proven, it's been closer to being disproven than anything. Second, and I'll say this loud so the White House can hear it, CIGARETTES ARE LEGAL. |

Just because you don't do it doesn't mean it's wrong.

I dunno...I could go either way. That report is obviously utter and complete bullshit, but as a former thrice-daily pot smoker I think it's just ridiculously retarded to smoke it. Shortly after I quit (smoked at least once a day for about 2 years), I felt like there was this fog lifted out of my brain. After experiencing the dumbass shit people do when they're high firsthand, I feel safe saying it makes you retarded and obliterates any motivation you may have. I think whoever wrote that rebutle has a decidedly pro-pot stance, too. If you're trying to right about facts for the purpose of publication, it's best to leave your opinion out.

i know what your sayin, but look at the mid-afternoon drunks, its all about moderation. i have about the same experience as you, and i completly agree with what your sayin, but just like anything else, if you abuse it, it takes its toll on you. i dont believe the consiquences are right for what it is, and its effect on society(the crime assosiated with it is rediculace when compaired to other countries that have decriminalized, not leagalized it). i would be 100% for a ticketed offence, but to make it criminal is not right considering the availibilty of alchohal and the social events(ei:sports, concerts, late night, etc) that are pretty much structured around them.

Amen to that. Pot simply makes the basic operation of the brain a little slower. Things dont make as much a sense when you're on it. |

this comes back to the moderation thing, no one gets drunk and trys to solve quantum physics equations, or hell simple addition problems for that matter. pot no where near effects the mind/body in the way alchohal does. long term effects, from my experience, are completely psycological. after a day break (kinda like the off time you take from being hung over) the haze is lifted and everything is clear again. this isnt true for heavy users, however someone who drinks every day also needs more than a day off before returning to "normal". alchohal withdraws are horrible. i drank heavy for a year strait and cutting back on drinking was so so so so so so much harder than cutting back on smoking. drinking gives you the shakes when you've gone long enough without a drink, you get intolerable, and overall a grumby person. maybe i handled smoking better, but for me it was a drop of a hat i quit type thing. that was with friends blowing smoke in my face and constantly offering all the free stuff i wanted. the hardest part about stoping smoking pot is finding something to do. when your usta being an "idle" person for that long then quitting, if you sit around sure your gonna want to smoke and then you'll think your addicted. but your modivation isnt back yet. its just like trying to quit eating candy. sure you can do it, but if you have no modivation to quit, then your not going to try. maybe im a bit biased on this because ive felt/seen first hand the damage alchohal can do to people. i'd prefer not to go into it, but even after years of very expensive treatment a drop of liquor brings back a world of trouble. im not sugesting anyone go out and start smoking by any means, but when compairing 2 substances, you need to compair them, not take the goods and bads of each.

Well sir, I post from work, so no, no bowl smoking for me.
I don't really smoke that much anymore to tell the truth. Not really worth it. But I just enjoy posting the fact that Bush's White House lies in every conceivable way. Thanks though, "not it all makes sense" Proving your typing skills match your cognitive thinking skills. Really appreciate that. |
