Nope, but it is challenging. I had to take 6 or 7 calc classes in college
There are theoretical math courses that require much more thinking, but I don't have to mess with them luckily.

What was your major? One of my roommates in college was a math major....talk about some random tangents this guy would go off on. Why 0 isn't really 0 and yadda yadda yadda number theory stuff. I had trouble with the triple integrals the 1st time. 2nd time was a breeze. Differential equations, now that's the fun stuff. b |

What school are you going to? What kind of job do you think you'd want? Acura_86: It should be harder than pre-calc, otherwise they'd just skip pre-calc and go right into calc. Calc in college is harder than HS calc....well, depending on a few factors. But considering that you usually take it frosh year, the prof hates you, the TA doesn't speak English and also hates you, and you are still hung over from the previous nights' partying.....it's not really a fair comparison. b |

I'm going to Oregon State. Not sure what kind of job I want yet, but my options are open since I'm minoring in CS. You are so right about college classes. My professors and TAs hardly ever speak fluent English, which makes things very difficult sometimes.

yeah he gives us bonus quizes, and then curves the tests if the class average is below 75%. first test i had 15 bonus points, and the class average was a 72, i eneded up with a 114 on that test. its supposta be a hard class for busniess majors... i dunno though

Well I gotta tell you, it's definitely a hard knock life trying to get a job these days. Those of us who have them are partly thankful, although many days (today is definitely one of them) I think I'd be much happier to just be shot and have someone else take my job. Other days I just feel like a monkey pushing buttons. If I crack look for my future post of me ranting excessively on my job. :( Quote:
I had a phsics prof, emag....what an ass. This guy was shady. Anyways, 1st day of class he made a little lecture on how things were going to be in the class, it went something like this: I'm professor X. There will be no partial credit in this class. In fact, getting any credit will be difficult. You will probably fail a few tests and you'll get a bad grade as a result of it. If you wonder if I care, I don't. Well that's not really what he said....but it's pretty dern close. I had another prof who said this (direct quote): "I don't believe much in partial credit. I have a crappy car in the parking lot where it's obvious the engineers got a lot of partial credit, so I don't believe in it." b |

I found calc to be very hard. So hard in fact that I think I failed that worse than I've ever failed anything in my life.
I didn't really see any similarities between pre-calc and calculus. My pre-calc was really a bunch of trig, but that might be just my class as different text books can have different stuff in them. I haven't had any teachers that openly mean about their grading policies. Here's a website you should check out before signing up for classes. http://www.ratemyprofessors.com |

The worst is definately quadravectorial stats. I thought I was a math god until I got to that one..
