JDM/EU accord to be sold in the US
As early as the next spring , American Honda Motor Company will begin importing the EU/JDM market 4 door Accord as a new acura model. When honda designed an Accord, it was designing 3 cars ( not including 4doors and 2 doors, special editions and such). The US model is taylor made for our big roads and big tastes. Concurently the company would design a smaller, sportier version for the European market and an accord for the home market which is considerably smaller than the "yank" version. For 2003 all accords get a major redesign that changed a bit. The soon to be released models EU and JDM models are now essentially identical. For the first time there is justification for bringing a version of the car to the US.
The replacement of the integra model, with the 2 door only RSX left a hole in acura's lineup for an entry level performance sedan. Remeber the integra GS-R 4 door ? Across the pond to the right or to the left, thoug, there is a smaller, more stiffy tuned accord designed as an entry level premium sports sedan. The hottest EU/JDM version is now offered with a 2.4l i-VTEC 4 cylinder making 190 hp and 163 pound feet of tq, mated to a 6 spd manual, or a 5 spd auto. That will be the basis for our 2004 model acura, code named TSX, although it's name has not been released. To project a sporting image and keep up with the RSX Type S there are rummors that the acura version will be pumped up to 200 hp. No V6 is expected. With the larger larger V6-powered TL selling at a relatively modest $30000, a reasonable estimate for acura's base price would be about $25000. The new car rides on a wheelbase that's 3" shorter than that of our accord sedan, or about the same as lenght of the USDM coupe (105.1"). It usses a dual control arm front end and multilink rear as does our accord. As you can see from the spy photos (gonna post them later) taken during handling development work the look of the car is substantially different in character from our accord. By what must be an unhappy coincidence for honda, the car looks much like the new mazda 6 mid series sedan. Car and Driver

I don't like the tails, or the "tall cab" design. It doesn't look that bad, but it might look ok modded...
