With a motor you need more air in and more air out right? At a certain point you just need more flow than what the stock cams provide. They open the valves further (lift) and usually for a longer amount of crankshaft rotation (duration). Thus allowing a larger air/fuel mixture to get into the chamber and out the exhaust port. That = mo' powa'!

Not when your running a huge turbo set up tho i heard. Because when your not running a turbo set up the engine just sucks the air but when it's being forced in it goes in at a predetermined setting. Therefore I heard cams are uselss on a turbo set up.
Remember: This is what I have heard. Not my opinion. I'm just seeing if it's true or not.
