colder plugs run cooler... they generally have a shorter "gulley" between the conductor and the threads... down where the ceramic insulator goes. since they're colder, when you're on the bottle(this increases cylinder pressures immensely) they won't get to hot and start pre-ignition of the air/fuel mixture(detonation= the part in F&F where the computer tells dude his manifold is in trouble )
