No the brake wasn't pulled. I asked the mechanic and he told me to turn the "cross-faced" piston about 1/4th of a turn and it will go in easily, if not (it didn't) he said turn it as if your were screwing it in, I tried that and they went in with very little effort. I loose the bleeding screw when doing this.

BTW the pads have like a protrusion whichi goes on the cross shaped grooves on the piston to prevent it from turning around.
