VxD errors are bad news. Honestly, whenever I encountered those, it was a reformat/reload job. It was often more trouble than it was worth to try to fix them, and was never just one that was bad.
If you have the name of the file, that's a start. google the name, and see what you come up with. If it just dumps hex at you, thats not very helpful.
You could try starting in safe mode, and once you're there, you could try to begin the repair process, that is IF you know which file is hosed.
I remember McAfee Viruscan always had VxD problems with 98 machines, but your problem could be anything.
