Not to sound like a jerk, but if you want to get in shape, get off your ass and get in the gym. running works too, but strength training is the best way to get in shape. if you are really out of shape to the point of barely being able to do pushups/situps, they wont help... you gotta lift as much weight as you possibly can, but you have to be able to repeat it (reps) 6-12 times, or it is essentially useless. sure maxing out on the bench press is fun, but it doesnt build muscle or burn fat (muscle burns fat). ask any questions you got... I went from lifting next to nothing and being a scrawny slim-shouldered kid to benching 200+ and having that V shape... so ask any questions...
