I'm not familiar with that camera, so I don't know how its focusing system works. On the S400 I have it set up for center-frame focusing when in manual mode (not their AiAF system that uses something like up to 9 points of reference). That way I'm always ensured it focuses on the center of the frame. I just center the frame on where I want my focal plane to be, and then frame the shot how I want it. I usually also take a few pics using different focal points and filter through them later.
And yeah I just do the photography thing as a hobby. I would like to turn it into more of a business venture sometime in the future. I'd like to set up a studio and have the ability to do portraits and such. But I'd like macro the most, nature/animal shots 2nd, and probably b/w outdoor portraits 3rd (but I lack a model right now....), and then landscapes.
SFKing: Yeah, I saved them. I wasn't at all worried about them biting me, they were just extremely interested in getting out. But it's not like I picked them up, I just put a very long stick into the dumpster and they climbed out using that.

And then they quickly scooted back to the woods.....
