Just from reading up on it, this will still depend on what management unit you are using because the EIC is actually independent. It seems that this device will not prevent a MAP CEL code electronically. However, if you decide to stick to a non-stand alone or cheap piggy back, you can still use the "missing link" installed in between the TB and MAP sensor. The SDS EIC does not directly or electronically tap into the MAP sensor itself. The unit is required to have an intake manifold status input, which is not necessarily from the MAP sensor. It could be T'd off the FPR vacuum line or any other vacuum source from the IM.... such as cruise control vacuum source.
The draw back of having a missing link is like having a minor boost leak just enough to trick the MAP sensor. That is why it is directly tapped into the MAP sensor......
