Not to turn this into a theological thing like we've had here before...but I think the reason you don't "see" that happeneing is because it take tens of thousands of years. Plus people HAVE evolved in the last thousand years. Perhaps not physically, but we're no longer throwing stones at our own shadows and dying of old age and fear at 30. It's all relative...evolution isn't always tangible.
